Captain Zargon Space Pirate (and Zargonites) Description:

Action Man during the early 1980s was competing with a new breed of space-themed toys, partly inspired by the release of Star Wars, which took the world toy market by storm. In an attempt to recapture the hearts and minds of children similar concepts were created with close resemblances to Star Wars concepts. Captain Zargon, we can suggest, was the 'Darth Vader' wannabee of the space range that was created in 1978. We were encouraged to avoid his 'stingray eyes'! With space sword, PVC cape and space visor, he was the Space Ranger's enemy. The silver-panted Captain Zargon figure sported rather fetching black gripping hands - it is a pity these did not get used on the SAS figures in production at the same time. His body was a black version of the dynamic physique with printed on electronic circuit graphics and unique silver gauntlets on his forearms. His familiar 'blue pants' were swopped for silver armour plated space pants. A year later in 1982 Palitoy released a 'Zargonite' Outfit, based on the same dark and evil theme, that an Eagle Eyes Action Man could wear, so that Captain Zargon could finally command his own evil troops.

Notes:

The visor, as with all visors, can break easily at the lugs. The cape is often mis-shapen from storage but can carefully be flattened with a cool iron and damp cloth protection and extreme care.
