ACTION MAN BRITISH INFANTRYMAN OUTFIT: Jacket, trousers, plastic webbing, 2 x kidney pouches, khaki scarf, helmet, boots, water bottle, bayonet and scabbard, Carl Gustav and bi-pod, Equipment Manual.
Notes:
The Action Man British Infantryman was a modern outfit of particularly bright camouflage (same as that of the 'Internationals' German paratrooper fabric pattern). Unlike the similar Royal Marines tunic of the same time, this tunic only has brass buttons on the shoulder straps - nowhere else. The trousers feature side pockets. The Carl-Gustav was a simply made weapon, and had an inverted 'U' shaped bi-pod that is often lost or broken. The webbing included pockets for the water bottle and a standard soft bayonet and scabbard. It would have been fitting to include a rifle with the set, for the sake of the bayonet at least. This webbing can go dry and lose its elasticity, making the belt buckle fail. Boots were standard 1980s issue. The 1980 'Royal Marines Combat Uniform' camouflage fatigues are similar but feature brass dummy buttons down the front and the camo is quoted as being a little darker. By this time poppers were commonly square rather than round.
