ACTION MAN
Royal Marines Combat Uniform 1980
Period: Eagle Eyes
Dates: 1980-c.83
Cat No: 34332
Description:
The Royal Marines Combat Uniform set is a contemporary uniform brought out at the same time as the Afrika Korps Lance Corporal and Long Range Desert Group. It was another late edition in the range of uniforms for Action Man. The plastic webbing was authentic type with kidney pouches and position for bayonet and scabbard and water bottle. It progressed to the Modern British Infantryman of 1982. The green plastic beret was of the flatter design rather than the mid 1970s issue shape. It came in blister packaging with a side 'Storage Locker' that could be cut free to use as a box.

ROYAL MARINES COMBAT UNIFORM: Beret, Scarf, Jacket, Trousers, Boots, Anklets (Puttees), Plastic Webbing, Bayonet, SLR Rifle, Water Bottle, Grenades x 4, information leaflet. Equipment Manual.
Notes:
The Royal Marines Combat uniform was a 'modern day' issue rather than the preceding uniform of the same name from the early 1970s. The beret often loses its badge. The tunic, although similar in design as the 'Modern' British Infantryman of two years later, has brass buttons and is slightly less vibrant in colour. It paved the way for the new British Infantryman set. The webbing included a location for a hollow all-silver water bottle. The location of the bayonet scabbard should be located near the hip on the belt - a separately available entrenching tool can be placed within back of webbing between shoulder blades. It is likely that the plastic strapped SLR would be of the more caramel in colour variety than the darker brown at this time. The 'current' Action Man in 1980 was the dynamic body Eagle Eyes figure (introduced year before).
The set was not produced in the 40th Anniversary sets of 2006
