1958 West Ham Utd Bobby Moore Action Man:
BOBBY MOORE LIMITED EDITION 1958 ACTION MAN (AM733): Action Man Bobby Moore figure, Short sleeve West Ham Utd football shirt with embroidered No6 WHUFC badge to front, and embroidered No.6 on the back, white shorts, white stockings with claret and blue tops, white ball, black boots, Certificate of Authenticity, Action Man dog tag.
Bobby Moore was the heroic West Ham United and England Captain that lead the national team to it's finest glory in 1966 and his statue graces the new Wembley Stadium. The 1958 style top is made from a fine stretch fabric that resists distortion. The badge on Bobby's chest is of 1958 vintage. The box features a large image of Bobby's face on its inner liner and is the first outing for a new smaller size window box. The box reverse reads: "Bobby Moore made his West Ham United debut at the age of 17 against Manchester United in September 1958. The Hammers have worn Claret and Blue shirts like this one since 1903 – the year before the Club changed its name from Thames Ironworks to West Ham United. Barking-born Moore went on to make 647 appearances, captaining the Hammers to 1964 FA Cup and 1965 European Cup Winners’ Cup glory. The four-time Hammer of the Year also led England as the Three Lions won the FIFA World Cup in 1966. This Limited Edition Action Man, has been produced in honour of his extraordinary career." The famous 'No.6' is woven to the back of the shirt - refreshing as vintage Action Man footballers from the 1970s only had paper decals. Action Man had never commemorated a footballer before and this is described as being the 'first of a series of football legends'. Bobby Moore's head sculpt was sympathetically modeled on a blend of 1960s Action Man, and Bobby Moore's likeness. The original 1966 Action Man had painted hair, and rather fittingly, this commemorative figure chose the same method. The figures are all hand-made to the same process as the original vintage figures. At launch the price was £58.00. Photography by Wisdom Design Limited.
